BJP, Congress clash intensifies In Shiggaon assembly campaign

Must read

Haveri
The Shiggaon Assembly constituency is seeing intense campaigning as BJP and Congress leaders engage in fierce exchanges. BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal criticized Congress candidate Yaseer Ahmad Khan Pathan, pointing out that the candidate faces 17 criminal cases. Yatnal mocked the Congress by likening the election to a wrestling match, asking if they were expected to wrestle with Pathan.
Yatnal, campaigning for BJP candidate Bharat Bommai, called for Hindu unity and warned that if people were divided by caste, their properties could end up as Wakf property. He urged voters to support the BJP to send a strong message against the government’s attempts to take over Hindu properties.
Yatnal also accused Congress of sidelining even good Muslims, referring to the cases filed against BJP leaders such as Pratap Simha and CT Ravi. He criticized Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan for misleading the Muslim community regarding Wakf properties and slammed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, suggesting that his remarks about being born a Muslim in his next life were part of a larger agenda to convert Hindu properties to Wakf.
In response, BJP candidate Bharat Bommai defended his development record, pointing out that Congress leaders were campaigning on roads he had built. He challenged them to focus on the development—or lack of it—in their own constituencies, rather than criticizing his work in Shiggaon.
