On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Extension. This phase, developed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) with support from the Gujarat and Central governments, includes a new metro line from Section 1 Metro Station to GIFT City Metro Station. Following the launch, PM Modi, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took a ride on the new metro line.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for various projects worth over Rs 8,000 crore in Ahmedabad. These include the expansion of railway lines, development of key roads, and construction of flyovers. Additionally, he will open a 30 MW solar system and a 35 MW BESS Solar PV Project at Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station, and new 220 kV substations at Morbi and Rajkot.
PM Modi will launch the Single Window IT System (SWITS) for the International Financial Services Centres Authority, approve more than 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, and initiate construction under the PMAY Scheme. He will also flag off India’s first Vande Metro from Bhuj to Ahmedabad and several Vande Bharat trains on various routes, including Nagpur to Secunderabad and Varanasi to Delhi.
