Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) displayed its Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv MkIII at the first Egypt International Airshow 2024. The event took place in El Alamein, marking HAL’s efforts to expand its presence in international markets. HAL announced this on Thursday through a social media post.
The Dhruv MkIII helicopter, designed for both military and civil use, was showcased to demonstrate its capabilities. HAL is aiming to attract international buyers for the versatile helicopter.
Ajit Gupte, the Ambassador of India to Egypt, visited the India Pavilion during the event. He toured the stalls of HAL and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), which were participating in the airshow. The participation of Indian defense companies reflects India’s growing role in the global aerospace and defense sectors.
In a related development, the Cabinet Committee on Security recently approved the procurement of 240 aero-engines for the Indian Air Force (IAF). These engines will be produced by HAL and will be used in the Su-30 MKI aircraft fleet. The engines will have over 54 percent indigenous content, boosting domestic defense manufacturing. The production will take place at HAL’s Koraput division.
The delivery of the engines is expected to start in a year, and the supply will continue over the next eight years. This is aimed at sustaining the IAF’s fleet and strengthening India’s defense preparedness.
