On Monday, Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi stated that India supports peace and a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Tyagi informed sources that the Indian government has recently sent medical aid and food supplies to Palestine and is actively working towards ending the conflict.
He emphasized that India’s position is to halt the war, noting past support for Palestine from figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Tyagi also mentioned that while Hamas and Hezbollah are distinct entities, Palestine is a separate nation deserving of support.
Additionally, Mohammad Makram Balawi, Secretary General of the League of Parliamentarians for Al Quds, met with Tyagi and other officials including MPs Sanjay Singh and Javed Ali Khan. They condemned Israel’s actions and expressed their solidarity with Palestine, as reported by Tyagi’s office.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that Israel has agreed to a proposal aimed at bridging gaps in ceasefire talks and urged Hamas to do the same. Speaking from Tel Aviv, Blinken said that Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed acceptance of the proposal. He stressed that it is now up to Hamas to agree and for all parties, with the help of mediators from the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar, to finalize and implement the agreement.
