On Wednesday, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut criticized the Badlapur police for allegedly being pressured not to file a case regarding the sexual abuse of two four-year-old girls at a well-known English medium school. Raut condemned the police response to the protests by parents and locals against the school, which is managed by Adarsh Vidya Prasarak Sanstha. He questioned whether the Supreme Court was ignoring the public outcry.
Raut described the Badlapur incident as a shame for Maharashtra and compared it to a situation in Karnataka where the Prime Minister reportedly praised Prajwal Revanna despite multiple sexual harassment allegations. He suggested that similar leadership is reflected in the Maharashtra government.
Raut claimed that the Badlapur school has connections to the BJP and argued that if it were affiliated with other parties, the response would have been stronger. He also criticized Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s promise to expedite the case, alleging that the Shinde-led government is pressuring the Supreme Court to delay proceedings. Raut urged the Supreme Court to act swiftly, as it did in the Kolkata case. The Shiv Sena (UBT) publication Saamna also criticized the MahaYuti government for its handling of crimes against women and girls, accusing the Home Ministry of failing to address these issues properly.
