French President Emmanuel Macron has announced he will not appoint a new prime minister before the end of the Olympic Games to avoid disorder. In an interview with Sources, Macron emphasized his commitment to stability to ensure the successful running of the Games, which will host nearly 10,500 athletes and millions of fans. He warned that a change in government would lead to chaos and urged political parties to find compromises in Parliament without an absolute majority. Gabriel Attal resigned as prime minister on July 8 after the ruling party lost its majority in the snap legislative elections. Macron accepted Attal’s resignation on July 16 but asked him to continue leading a caretaker cabinet until a new government is formed.
