GVL Narasimha Rao, BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha member, criticized the Congress and INDIA bloc for opposing special state allocations in the Union Budget, calling their stance a sign of political frustration and negativity. During a BJP press conference on Wednesday, Rao praised PM Modi’s budget, highlighting its support for the poor, farmers, and the middle class, and its emphasis on education and employment. He noted that the budget reflects Modi’s commitment to a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and aims to promote balanced development.
Rao explained that balanced development has been a core focus of Modi’s government over the past decade. He emphasized that the budget, with an expenditure exceeding Rs 48 lakh crore, addresses the needs of every state, particularly those that have been historically neglected. Special allocations are made for states with significant developmental needs, especially in the Eastern region, to ensure they progress alongside other parts of the country.
Rao accused the Congress and the INDIA alliance of showing a negative attitude towards these states and displaying political frustration. He also criticized Congress for its handling of Andhra Pradesh, highlighting their failure to deliver on promises of special assistance. Rao pointed out that Congress’s manifesto mentions special category status only for Andhra Pradesh, accusing the party of betraying the state despite their previous tenure in power.
