Warner Bros. has unveiled the trailer and poster for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice. Directed by Tim Burton, the sequel is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival before hitting theaters on September 6, 2024.
The newly released trailer offers a sneak peek into the chaotic and darkly humorous world that fans loved in the original film. In this sequel, Lydia Deetz, now an adult, is still troubled by the mischievous ghost Betelgeuse. Her teenage daughter, Astrid (played by Jenna Ortega), discovers a model of their town in the attic. When Astrid accidentally summons Betelgeuse by saying his name three times, she opens a portal to the afterlife, unleashing the ghost’s mayhem once more.
Tim Burton returns to direct, bringing back original stars Winona Ryder (Lydia Deetz), Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton (Betelgeuse). New cast members include Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, Arthur Conti, and Monica Bellucci. The film’s script is crafted by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith, with Burton, Tommy Harper, Plan B, Marc Toberoff, and David Geffen producing.
The original Beetlejuice followed the haunting of Adam and Barbara Maitland, who enlist Betelgeuse’s help to deal with the Deetz family moving into their home. With the sequel promising new adventures and spooky fun, fans are eagerly anticipating its release. Stay tuned for more updates as the date approaches.
