It’s been a superb weekend second weekend for ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ as the film stormed past the revered Rs. 800 cr. club during the course. The worldwide collections of the film (all versions), as per the latest reports, have amounted to Rs. 818.73 crores in gross figures and has beaten the Tamil film ‘2.0’, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, and directed by Shankar, to take the #7 in the list of highest-grossing Indian films. Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ stands as the next challenge at Rs. 854 crores and one can expect ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ to surpass the figures in the next few days.
Another highly encouraging factor for the film has come from its Hindi dubbed version which has continued to be the main contributor to the overall success. Having near the Rs. 300 crore mark by Friday, April 22nd, the film has reportedly had a solid second weekend at the box office.
‘KGF: Chapter 2’ has outperformed the bonafide Hindi release ‘Jersey’ at the box office by sweeping over the non-urban centres, and with the Shahid Kapoor starrer also struggling a little to capitalize the urban sector, Prashanth Neel’s magnum opus can be adjudged the clear winner.
According to Box Office India, ‘KGF 2’ (Hindi) collected close to Rs. 39 crores over Saturday and Sunday with Sunday alone making up to Rs. 22 crores (nett) to take the total nett collection to Rs. 314 crores (approx). ‘Dangal’ stands at Rs. 374 crores (Hindi belt) and the Kannada film has all the chances to go past these numbers with a steady performance expected over the next few days.
