IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain For West Peninsular Coast, Northwest India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Wednesday that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected along the West Peninsular Coast over the next 3-4 days. Concurrently, Northwest India is likely to experience increased rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy showers anticipated from June 28 to June 30. Northeast India is also forecasted to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during June 27-30.

According to IMD, a trough at mean sea level is positioned off the Maharashtra and Kerala coasts, alongside a cyclonic circulation over central Gujarat. These weather systems will bring widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across various regions.

  • Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are likely to experience widespread rainfall.
  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal will see scattered to fairly widespread rainfall.
  • Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan will experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, increasing to fairly widespread from June 28-30.
  • East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal are expected to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall.
  • Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for specific regions like Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab on designated dates.
