Mangaluru

A concrete road was laid in Mulihithlu of Bolar in the city a month ago. However, it was dug up two days ago, and the video of workers digging the road using machines has gone viral. CPM leaders have alleged that crores of rupees were spent without proper planning.
The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) have been developing roads in a hurry to ensure that funds do not lapse, said Sunil Kumar, CPM Dakshina Kannada district secretariat member.

He alleged corruption in the digging of roads across the city. The BJP administration in the MCC is mired in corruption, and the digging of roads across the city is a testimony to it. Crores of rupees are being spent to develop roads as it is a means to corruption. There are guidelines for the development of new roads which mandate checking the underground cables, drinking water pipelines, and underground drainage networks before commencing the works. However, all such mandates are violated so that funds can be utilized before they lapse, said Kumar, who shared the video of workers digging the new concrete road at Mulihithlu on social media.
He said digging new roads to plug leaks in drinking water pipelines, underground drainage, and to lay cables has become a routine affair in the city. Regarding the digging at Mulihithlu, he said the new road was dug for a silly reason.  The money people pay as tax to the govt is being wasted through such unscientific work. People should wake up against such unscientific works, he added.
