The upcoming by-election for the Channapatna Assembly seat, left vacant by Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy due to his Lok Sabha candidacy, has stirred significant political discourse in the state. Addressing concerns, Kumaraswamy himself disclosed that his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy would not participate in the contest for Channapatna.
Speaking at an event organized by Bamul in Byrapattana village, Channapattana taluk on Friday, Kumaraswamy remarked, “I understand the disappointment Nikhil has faced after losing twice.” This statement effectively clarifies his decision regarding Nikhil’s candidacy in the upcoming by-election.
There is now speculation that CP Yogeshwar might emerge as a potential candidate for the by-election in Channapatna. Kumaraswamy expressed his party’s determination to strive for victory together, regardless of the candidate fielded by the NDA.
Moreover, Kumaraswamy seized the occasion to appeal to the Prime Minister for nationwide incentives for milk producers, stressing the need for an additional Rs 2-3 per liter support for farmers across the country. He indirectly criticized DK Sivakumar, urging locals to question those who promise but fail to deliver on their commitments, particularly citing the delay in disbursing Rs 61 crore in milk incentives to Channapatna taluk farmers.
The event saw the presence of Legislative Council member CP Yogeshwar, Bamul director Jayamuthu, and various others.
