Good literature in Kannada has been lamented as lost by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking to the media at Ravindra Kalakshetra after paying respects to veteran writer Kamal Hampana, he mentioned meeting her several months ago. Hampana, who authored 48 works, the most by any female writer, dedicated herself to Kannada language as a teacher, researcher, and writer.
Her studies included research on the Prakrit language and teaching in Bangalore, Mysore, and Vijayanagar. The Chief Minister expressed prayers for strength to Hampana’s family to bear their sorrow, and for her soul to rest in peace eternally.
