Rising Vegetable Prices Costs Amid Delayed Monsoon

Must read

The monsoon season has yet to properly arrive in the state, leaving it under the looming threat of drought. The delayed rains could significantly impact the entire economic system if they do not arrive soon.

In the meantime, the prices of tomatoes and leafy greens are soaring in the market. Customers are now reconsidering their financial situation before purchasing these essentials. Tomatoes, which were priced at Rs.50 per kilogram just last week, have suddenly surged to Rs.100 per kilogram, hitting customers’ pockets hard.

Additionally, the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices since Saturday is expected to further drive up the cost of vegetables and grocery items, adding to the financial burden on consumers.
