Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticised the state government for increasing the sales tax on petrol and diesel.
Speaking to media, Joshi said the five guarantees were introduced without any forethought.  Now, the government has hiked tax on fuel to overcome the financial burden and is spending money from the treasury for the guarantees.

It shows that the administrative system in the state has collapsed. People are already facing troubles due to global crisis and severe drought. Now, the state govt’s decision to hike fuel price will have a cascading effect on other commodities, he lashed out.
PM Modi’s government is controlling prices of essential commodities despite the global crisis. Due to lack of proper supply of foodgrains, entire country is facing issues. So, what guarantee is the Congress government providing, he questioned.
Government has increased petrol price by Rs 3.5 per litre due to which bus fare, the price of milk, rice and other things will increase now, Joshi said. Accusing the government of being anti-poor, he said, they give with one hand and take away with the other.
