Railway Protection Force Excels In Several Initiatives

Various rescue and protection operations were conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in May within the South Western Railway jurisdiction. As part of mission Nanhe Faristheh, 35 children separated from their families were reunited. Operation Dignity led to the rescue of a 50-year-old missing man from Chitradurga at Hubli railway station on May 23. Under operation Uplabdh against touts, 28 individuals were arrested across Karnataka and Goa, with the seizure of tickets valued at Rs 2.8 lakh and Rs 18.2 lakh.

Operation Satark resulted in the seizure of 1,472 unclaimed liquor bottles worth Rs 1 lakh, handed over to the excise department in 11 instances. Responding to passengers’ concerns, RPF personnel recovered items worth Rs 13.9 lakh on 55 occasions. In combating wildlife smuggling, an object resembling a deer antler was detected in a passenger’s bag at Sir M Vishweshwarayya Railway station in Bengaluru on May 1. Four cases were registered under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act 1966, leading to the recovery of railway property worth Rs 33,300 out of a total stolen property worth Rs 85,122.
