Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar stated that the Congress party will humbly accept the defeat in the Belgaum Lok Sabha constituency. Speaking to the media after meeting Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, it was noted that the results of the Belagavi elections indicated a possible unity between BJP and MES. For the past 25 years, a three-cornered contest existed between Congress, BJP, and MES in Belagavi. This time, the situation was different, leading to the Congress defeat.
Hebbalkar explained that the election atmosphere differs between Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Each constituency has its unique dynamics. Initially, there was a positive atmosphere for a Congress victory in Belagavi, and substantial public support was observed. Despite this, the election results were not in favor of Congress.
It was acknowledged that Congress may not win many seats in Karnataka. However, the guarantee schemes will not be discontinued for any reason. These schemes have been implemented for the empowerment of people and will continue to be provided without any selfish motives.
During a meeting with leaders in Belagavi on Sunday, Minister Hebbalkar reacted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s apology, stating that it is commendable for the Chief Minister to apologize. Regarding the dispute between Minister Satish Jarakiholi and Athani MLA Laxman Savadi, Hebbalkar expressed neutrality, indicating support for both parties involved.
