New Delhi

The CPI(M) denounced the recent increases in milk prices and highway tolls, accusing the government of burdening the people post-elections. The CPI(M) Politburo stated that the rise in toll fees would elevate the prices of all goods, particularly food items transported by road, and inflate travel expenses.

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury criticized the Narendra Modi-led government, asserting that with the elections over, the government is resuming its practice of exploiting the people. He highlighted the Rs 2 per liter hike in milk prices by Amul and Mother Dairy, along with the 5 percent increase in road toll taxes.

Mother Dairy announced a Rs 2 per liter increase in milk prices in the Delhi-NCR market due to rising input costs. This price adjustment affects other markets where Mother Dairy operates.

Starting Monday, motorists using expressways face increased toll charges nationwide, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) implemented an average 5 percent hike. The annual revision of highway user fees, initially slated for April 1, was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections.
