The latest report from the Central Water Commission (CWC) indicates that several rivers in Assam remain above the danger level due to continuous rainfall, leading to severe flood situations. At three sites, the water level is touching or exceeding the danger level, while at three others, it’s above normal.

Over 39,000 displaced individuals are seeking refuge in 193 relief camps across various districts, with 82 relief distribution centers operational. Rescue and relief efforts involve multiple agencies, including the NDRF, SDRF, and local administration, with medical teams deployed in affected areas.

Infrastructure damage, including roads and bridges, has been reported in different districts. The CWC’s bulletin highlights specific rivers, such as the Buridehing, Jiabharali, and Kopili, experiencing severe flood situations, with water levels posing risks to nearby areas.

While some rivers like the Kushiyara show a falling trend, others like the Brahmaputra and Barak are currently above normal but haven’t exceeded danger levels. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 5,35,000 people in 13 districts remain affected by the floods, with recent casualties bringing the total toll to 18 since May 28th.
