In Navanagar, a sit-in protesting against a Circle Inspector of Police, accused of insulting Hindu organizations, turned violent on Wednesday night, leading to a lathi-charge by the police. The protest stemmed from dissatisfaction over the handling of a love case involving individuals from different castes.

Allegations arose against Circle Inspector SS Biradar, who was accused of using inappropriate language towards Hindu workers, fueling the demonstrators’ anger.

As tensions escalated, miscreants began pelting stones, prompting the police to intervene with a lathi-charge. Earlier, Hindu Sangathan activists had gathered near the SP office to voice their grievances against the disrespectful police officer, resulting in a minor altercation. Subsequently, activists convened at the city hall circle, forming a human chain to protest, despite police requests to disperse.

The situation worsened as stones were thrown, leading to police intervention in the presence of Superintendent of Police Amarnath Reddy. Additional police forces were deployed to restore order, resulting in the arrest of three Hindu organization activists: Manoj, Kumaraswamy, and Vikrama. The protestors demanded action against the offending police officer, prompting discussions between former MLA Viranna Charantimath and District Superintendent of Police Amarnath Reddy following the incident.
