Edappadi K Palaniswami, AIADMK General Secretary, criticized the DMK government on Wednesday for burdening the public with massive debt, calling it the regime’s achievement after three years in office. He said borrowing about Rs 3.5 lakh crore is a clear sign that the government is anti-people. Palaniswami accused Chief Minister M K Stalin’s government of idleness and failing to deliver on promises made to the people, alleging that it has implemented no new schemes and merely rebranded old ones from the AIADMK regime.

Palaniswami, the Leader of the Opposition, argued that the DMK administration has achieved little aside from increasing debt. He accused the government of scrapping or delaying AIADMK schemes and allowing law and order to deteriorate. Palaniswami also claimed that the DMK turned the state into a hub of drugs.

Furthermore, he accused Stalin of being a puppet controlled by his family. While the DMK claims to be a Dravidian model government, Palaniswami labeled it a Yematru model, suggesting it deceives people. He warned that the public would soon prove the DMK government is useless and anti-people.

On May 7, marking three years in office, Chief Minister Stalin insisted his government has delivered on its promises. However, the AIADMK leader pointed out that by March 2025, the state’s debt is projected to reach Rs 8,33,361.80 crore.
