Five Days Of Hot Air In Most Parts: Met Department Warns

A heatwave is expected to affect most parts of the state for five days starting Thursday, according to the weather department. People have been cautioned against venturing out of their homes between 12 noon and 3 pm.

The forecast indicates hot and humid weather with heatwave conditions in several districts including Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Yadagir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, Tumakuru, Mandya, Gadag, Davangere, and Chitradurga for the next five days.

Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts will experience hot and humid conditions until April 29. The Meteorological Department predicts a rise in the maximum temperature by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across the state in the coming days.

Special attention is advised for infants, elderly individuals, and those with chronic diseases. It is recommended to wear light-colored, loose, and porous cotton clothing and to use protective gear like sunglasses, umbrellas, hats, and footwear when outdoors.Engaging in strenuous activities during high outdoor temperatures is discouraged, and it is advisable to avoid working outside the home between 12 noon and 3 pm. Beverages such as alcohol, tea, coffee, and carbonated drinks should be avoided due to their dehydrating effects, along with high-protein and stale foods.
