Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, at a rally in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Sunday, called for a shift towards issue-based politics, emphasizing that leaders should focus on core issues like employment, education, and healthcare instead of divisive rhetoric.

Highlighting the Congress manifesto, Shrinate said, Our manifesto reflects the needs of women, youth, farmers, and soldiers. It’s about real jobs and apprenticeship opportunities. Suggesting pakoda-selling isn’t enough, especially with rising oil and gas prices. She stressed the party’s commitment to ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) payments go directly to farmers through a streamlined process involving Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs).

Shrinate criticized the BJP’s endorsement of candidates like Prajwal Revanna, involved in an obscene video scandal in Karnataka. How can the PM seek votes for someone accused of exploiting women? she asked, highlighting the need for accountability.

Addressing PM Modi directly, Shrinate said, For 10 years, you’ve focused on divisive issues like Hindu-Muslim relations. Why not focus on employment, education, or healthcare? He travels to Greece and America but hasn’t visited Manipur, where his presence is needed.

In discussing local issues, Shrinate pointed out the problem of paper leaks in Gujarat. Over 50 lakh students are affected when exam papers are leaked. This unfairly benefits politicians’ relatives, denying deserving candidates. We will fight for the rights of these students, she stated.
