Sam Pitroda’s statement on inheritance tax was dismissed by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday. He stated that the Congress party will not impose any inheritance tax, emphasizing that neither a birth tax nor a death tax will be implemented when Congress comes to power at the Centre. Shivakumar clarified that Pitroda’s statement reflects his personal opinion, and the Congress party does not endorse it.

Jairam Ramesh also commented on Pitroda’s statement, affirming that traditional practices will continue in India. He reiterated that the Congress Party does not support Pitroda’s statement and stands by its manifesto. Ramesh emphasized that anything beyond the manifesto is not part of their agenda.

Regarding the Prime Minister’s criticism of the Congress party, Shivakumar responded by stating that the Prime Minister’s remarks indicate desperation. He mentioned that the BJP lacks a strong presence in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, and predicted that the BJP will not secure double-digit seats in Karnataka. Shivakumar criticized the Prime Minister for discussing mangalasutra, highlighting the increase in gold prices during Modi’s tenure and accusing him of undermining traditional values.Shivakumar also referenced reports from Tamil Nadu suggesting that the INDIA bloc is poised to win all 40 seats in the state, with similar outcomes expected in Kerala.
