Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Karnataka on Saturday, amid the high-stakes Lok Sabha elections, was marred by a security lapse. As Modi was leaving from HQTC near Mekhri Circle in Bangalore en route to the palace grounds, a security breach occurred. Mohammad Nalapad, president of the state youth congress unit, unexpectedly entered the road and displayed opposition. In response to the security breach, the police swiftly arrested several individuals, including Mohammad Nalapad, and took them to the police station. The incident highlights the heightened tensions and heavy campaigning characterizing the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Despite security measures being put in place, such as the deployment of two thousand policemen, including Additional Commissioners of Police Satish Kumar and Raman Gupta leading the security, the lapse occurred. The security arrangements included the deployment of four DCPs, ACPs, inspectors, sub-inspectors, head constables, police constables, and traffic police personnel. The security measures were concentrated around the palace grounds, helipad, Makeri Circle, and Bellary Road, where the convention was held. However, the unfortunate incident underscores the challenges of ensuring security during high-profile political events amidst intense election campaigns.
