Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation Chairperson Mamata Gatti criticised the BJP for its long-standing hold on the Dakshina Kannada MP seat, claiming that their success was due to misleading the public. She said that the BJP’s 33-year streak will not continue, as voters are now aware of the party’s tactics.
She told media persons that significant development in the constituency occurred only under Congress MPs, while BJP representatives failed to bring major projects to the district. She accused the BJP of winning past elections by exploiting emotional issues and engaging in divisive politics.
Criticising the Modi-led government’s tenure in the last decade, she said the public struggled with rising fuel prices, the imposition of GST on all items, and the ineffectiveness of initiatives like Jan Dhan.
Gatti said there was a lack of transparency with the PM Cares fund, that there were problems caused by demonetization, the controversy around electoral bonds, and that ED and Income Tax department were misused by the Centre.
She expressed confidence that the Congress guarantees have got a positive response from the people, and that the five guarantees that the Congress has announced in its manifesto will help the party win.
