MLC Prathap Simha Nayak has urged Rahul Gandhi of Congress to address concerns regarding the lack of development works in Karnataka over the past 11 months. Nayak questioned whether the state government is bankrupt, considering its failure to generate revenue and release funds for basic amenities, despite rising prices for electricity, stamp duty, and other expenses.

He alleged that apart from implementing guarantee schemes, the Congress-led state government has failed to undertake development works. Nayak urged Rahul Gandhi to demand an explanation from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the government’s failure to allocate funds for development projects and the MLALAD scheme. He told media persons that the acute water crisis faced by farmers in Mandya and by residents of Bengaluru is due to the state government’s irresponsibility.

Nayak also criticized the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu during a drought period, holding Rahul Gandhi and the state government directly responsible for the water shortage. He mentioned that 692 farmers have lost their lives in Karnataka and called on Rahul Gandhi to seek answers from the state government regarding this issue.

Nayak expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, attributing it to the Congress party’s soft stance towards extremists, resulting in increased Naxal activities, and the Contractors Association’s accusations of corruption within the state government. On the occasion of Ram Navami, he demanded Rahul to address the people and provide answers to these pressing issues. He further accused the Congress of attempting to create a false narrative that portrays the NDA-led government as favoring the wealthy.
