An accused of rape, identified as Rajendra Yadav (33), who assaulted a young woman in Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district on Saturday, compelling her to retract her complaint, suffered the loss of one of his legs on Monday morning after being struck by a train on a railway line in Jaipur. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, and her brother were attacked by Yadav on Saturday, leaving the woman critically injured and admitted to Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur.

Rajasthan police apprehended Yadav on Monday while he was in an injured state, having reportedly attempted to flee by traversing a railway line, resulting in the loss of his leg beneath a moving train.

It was noted that Yadav altered his appearance by shaving his head and trimming his beard in an effort to evade detection. Yadav had previously served a jail sentence on rape charges last year and had been coercing the victim to withdraw her case since she filed it on June 17. Following his release on bail, he intensified pressure on the victim, who sought police protection.

The victim’s brother recounted that on February 24, Yadav and his associates launched an assault on him and his sister, with one of them firing a bullet that struck the victim’s spine. Witnesses reported that the assailants continued attacking the woman with sharp weapons until she collapsed. Believing her to be dead, they fled the scene. One accomplice, Mahesh, was apprehended on Saturday, while efforts are underway to capture the remaining suspects.
