During a participation in Mumbai Tech Week, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology, and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, reiterated the government’s dedication to transparent regulation and harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for economic progress. In a virtual discussion with Anant Goenka, Minister Chandrasekhar underscored the Modi government’s transformative regulatory stance, stressing collaborative efforts among stakeholders to facilitate orderly growth across sectors.
Highlighting past challenges in sectors like telecom, Minister Chandrasekhar emphasized the government’s commitment to an open, transparent, and consultative regulatory framework. He stressed that regulation isn’t merely about government control but about establishing essential guardrails for economic growth and stability, ensuring innovation without chaos.
Regarding India’s evolving position vis-Ã -vis China, particularly in semiconductors, Minister Chandrasekhar noted a significant momentum shift. He announced substantial investments in semiconductor fabs and partnerships with leading technology firms, along with the launch of the India Semiconductor Research Centre, aimed at fostering innovation in semiconductor technology.
During a rapid-fire interaction, Minister Chandrasekhar reiterated the government’s dedication to leveraging AI for economic growth and improving public services. He highlighted AI’s significance in healthcare, agriculture, education, and language diversity, emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive development and technology’s benefit for all citizens. Minister Chandrasekhar outlined plans to maximize AI’s potential in healthcare, agriculture, education, and multilingual datasets, aiming for impactful outcomes rather than competitive prowess.
