Minister for Food and Civil Supplies KH Muniyappa congratulated CM Siddaramaiah for presenting the pro-people budget for the state.
The Minister said that under Annabhagya Yojana, free rice distribution was implemented during the previous period of the government with the dream of making Karnataka free from hunger. This time, as promised, it is decided to provide additional five kg rice, he said. He added that due to the non-cooperation attitude of the central government, government is giving Rs. 34 per kg per beneficiary, and that their commitment has been demonstrated by making direct cash transfers of Rs. 4411.55 crore to 4.02 crore beneficiaries, till the end of January 2024.
