Ambedkar Bhavan construction to be completed within 2 months: ST Somashekar

 The construction of Ambedkar Bhavan which will be the No.1 in the State,  is in progress and will be completed in another 2-3 months said Cooperation and district in-charge minister ST Somashekar.

He was speaking at Ambedkar Jayanthi function organized by the district administration.  

The minister paid tributes to Ambedkar by garlanding his statue.  The cabinet has approved release of 17 crore which was required for completion of the building.  The amount will be transferred from Social welfare department to MUDA.  The building work will be completed within 2-3 months.  As the covid pandemic infections have reduced considerably, the Ambedkar Jayanthi is being celebrated grandly, he said.

Government’s emphasis on building equal society: Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar was a man who fought against social, inequality and untouchability. His birthday is being celebrated around the world today. The state BJP government has emphasized on the creation of equal society and has put forward ten programs in the budget for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The government has decided to grant subsidy of Rs 50 lakhs to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes for entrepreneurs.

The government has also increased the subsidy for land ownership scheme from Rs15 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs.  Babu Jagjivan Ram Self Employment Scheme is being implemented in every taluk for those who want to set up establishments of their own.

It has been decided to implement a special training program for the students of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes from 8th to 12th standard under the guidance of Chief Minister. A special training program has been launched in residential schools since this year.

The subsidy for construction of house has been increased from Rs 1.75 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.  It has been decided to provide 75 units of free electricity to the houses of Scheduled Caste sand Scheduled Tribes, Somashekar said.

As part of the 131st birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar, a special calendar was also released.

Retired High Court Justice  HN Nagamohanadas,  MLAs Nagendra, Ramadas, Tanveer Sait, MP Prathap Simha, MLC Manjegowda, Mayor Sunanda Palanetra, .  President of Jungle Lodges and Resorts Appanna, Deputy Commissioner Bagadhi Gowtham, Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta, Corporation Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy and leaders, officers participated.

BJP Office: Ambedkar Jayanthi was celebrated at BJP office.  Minister ST Somashekar inaugurated the photo exhibition of Ambedkar.  Tributes were paid to Ambedkar’s portrait.
