On Nirbhaya Diwas in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, over 17,000 school and college-going girls participated in a self-defence training program organized by the social organization JWALA at Nehru Stadium.

The event brought together girl students from various schools and colleges, along with trainers teaching self-defence techniques. The program was attended by the district administration, BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani, and BJP MLA Mahendra Hardiya. During the event, BJP leader Vijayvargiya administered an oath to the children for self-defence.

The President of JWALA, Dr. Divya Gupta, highlighted that 17,800 girls collectively learned self-defence skills, setting a new record. The World Book of Records London recognized the achievement, issuing a certificate for the largest number of girls receiving training simultaneously in Indore. The initiative aims to empower young girls with self-defence capabilities and commemorate Nirbhaya Diwas, marking the tragic incident in 2012 that led to significant changes in laws related to sexual harassment in India.
