In a recent development, a Kalaburagi court has granted eight-day Criminal Investigation Department (CID) custody to RD Patil, the central figure in the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) scam. The CID had applied for custody in connection with an FIR filed at the University Police Station in Kalaburagi. After the initial nine-day CID custody period concluded on Thursday, the court had placed Patil in 14-day judicial remand. However, citing an incomplete investigation, the CID has now secured an additional eight days of custody for further inquiry. The KEA scam revolves around the entrance exam for First Division Assistant posts conducted by the KEA on October 28. Cheating incidents, particularly involving the use of Bluetooth devices, led to several arrests in Kalaburagi and Yadgir exam centers. Multiple FIRs have been filed against individuals engaged in cheating, resulting in the arrest of over 40 people in connection with the case.
