Caste Survey Completed in District by 79%: DC

The District Commissioner, A.B. Basavaraju, stated that 79.19% of households in the district have completed the ongoing social and educational survey conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes. The survey period has been extended until October 18 to ensure that no household is left out and that the data collection is completed effectively.
Speaking at a press conference in the District Administration Hall, Basavaraju assured that 100% of households in the district would be surveyed within the extended timeframe. According to estimates for 2024–25, the district has 3,85,237 households with a population of 12,26,357. So far, 2,65,119 households covering 9,03,742 people have been surveyed, achieving a 79.19% completion rate.
He urged residents to cooperate fearlessly, assuring that the collected data will remain confidential and secure, and will be used solely to promote development and equal opportunities for all communities. Misconceptions or rumors about the survey should not be believed.
Awareness campaigns have been conducted in villages by 6,000 women from self-help groups, and in urban and rural areas through cleanliness channels of municipalities and gram panchayats. Citizens who missed the survey can contact the helpline to have enumerators visit their homes. Five helpline centers have been established in the district, with the following contact numbers: District B.C. The press conference was attended by District Welfare Officer Jayshree Hendegar, District Statistical Officer Lakshmikant, Deputy Directors of the Department of Information and Public Relations Ashok Kumar D, and other officials.
