A farmer, who had gone to irrigate his field, was attacked and seriously injured by a wild elephant. The incident took place at Old Heggudilu village in HD Kote taluk. The farmer Dhandanayaka of the village was injured.
The farmer was immediately rushed to HD Kote Government Hospital and given first aid. He was later shifted to Columbia Hospital in Mysuru for further treatment.The elephant that attacked is in the vicinity of Old Heggudilu village. So far, the forest department personnel have not come to the spot or chased away the elephant. A large number of crops were destroyed in the village due to the constant menace of elephants. But now people are being attacked,” the villagers said. Elephants are frequently seen in the fields of the village. But the forest department officials remained silent without making alternative arrangements, they alleged.
