Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is set to launch the Indira Rasoi Gramin scheme in Rajasthan’s Tonk district on September 10, with an eye on the upcoming elections. Preparations for the event are in full swing. The scheme, known as Indira Rasoi Yojana Gramin, will provide affordable food in rural areas, extending the existing program of serving meals for eight rupees in cities. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, state president Govind Singh Dotasra, and other senior Congress leaders and ministers are expected to attend the launch event. Efforts to mobilize the crowd for the meeting are being led by leaders from Tonk, Jaipur, and Dausa. The move to provide inexpensive food in both urban and rural areas is seen as an important political strategy in the run-up to the elections, especially with a focus on appealing to women voters. The Gehlot government has recently distributed free smartphones to 25 lakh women and initiated several other schemes, including the Indira Priyadarshini Fund and free ration distribution, to woo women voters. Priyanka Gandhi has been actively involved in campaigning in various Assembly election states. This strategy of launching schemes from senior leaders of the high command is designed to convey a strong message to voters. Previously, Rahul Gandhi held a meeting on World Tribal Day in August, and Mallikarjun Kharge launched the Kamdhenu Insurance Scheme during a meeting on September 6. Priyanka Gandhi’s upcoming meeting in Niwai, Tonk, is seen as part of the party’s efforts to address internal political dynamics within the Congress ahead of the elections.
