The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing expansion efforts, with the emergence of the ‘Vamika’ Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at Langford Town station. This marks a crucial step in the progress of the Metro’s ‘Pink Line’ tunneling work. The ‘Vamika’ TBM successfully completed a 721-meter tunnel from Lakkasandra to Langford Town. Prior to this, tunneling operations had covered 613.2 meters between Vamika TBM South Ramp and Dairy Circle and 743.5 meters between Dairy Circle and Lakkasandra station. In total, 17.62 kilometers of tunnel work out of the 20.991 kilometers planned for Phase 2 Reach 6 has been completed. Of the nine Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) deployed in Reach 6 tunnel, six TBMs have now successfully completed their tunnel boring work. This progress highlights the continued development and expansion of Bengaluru’s Metro network, bringing enhanced connectivity and transportation options to the city’s residents. The Bengaluru Metro remains a vital component of the city’s public transportation infrastructure, and these advancements represent a significant step toward improving urban mobility in the region.
