New Delhi

Following the reported cases of sodomy involving two school students, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken swift action by ordering the immediate suspension of the concerned teachers and vice principal. These individuals allegedly failed to report the incident to the police, even after one of the children had informed them about it. Education Minister Atishi, acting on the Chief Minister’s directive, has written to the Directorate of Education, stressing the need for rigorous training of all principals and teachers on the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The aim is to prevent such incidents in the future and to ensure that teachers are equipped to handle such cases effectively. In a letter written by Atishi, she stated, This incident should make us reflect and take corrective measures. We must do everything to ensure children are safe and secure at all times. She emphasized that the non-reporting of sexual abuse, as per the POCSO Act, is a criminal offense for any adult who is aware of the abuse.
