Aminul Islam, the General Secretary of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has expressed his views on the current political landscape, claiming that the so-called Modi wave has waned in the country. He suggests that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could resort to inciting violence in Assam, similar to incidents in Haryana’s Nuh, as a strategy to gain votes in the upcoming 2024 general elections. Islam’s remarks imply that the BJP and its affiliated groups like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) might resort to tactics that exploit communal tensions or engage in strategies to create divisions in society in order to gather public support for the 2024 elections. He cites the recent clashes in Haryana as a potential example of such actions. The AIUDF leader also expressed that the Modi wave that had previously influenced elections seems to have subsided due to perceived unfulfilled promises and various issues affecting people’s lives. He points out rising prices of essential commodities and a lack of job opportunities as factors that have led to dissatisfaction with the BJP-led Central government. In this context, Islam believes that the general public might not vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections due to the perception that promises made by the party have not been realized. He also indicates that the BJP might resort to communal incidents or other divisive tactics to deflect attention from these issues and attempt to secure electoral victories. It’s important to note that these statements reflect the opinions and claims made by a specific political leader and are part of the ongoing political discourse in the region.
