Drinking water scarcity in Tokalahalli village under Thimmanayakanahalli Gram Panchayat has been successfully resolved, with piped water now reaching every household, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Hemavathi confirmed on Monday.
Although two borewells existed in Tokalahalli, residents faced severe water shortages because motorized pumps had not been installed. Frustrated by the delay, villagers had staged a protest outside the local panchayat office demanding prompt domestic supply, a crisis highlighted in regional news reports on September 17.
Following directives from Zilla Panchayat authorities, a technical team comprising rural water supply engineers and field supervisors inspected the location on September 17. The department instructed contractors to immediately install motor pumps and lay feeder pipelines. By September 18, technical work was completed, successfully restoring regular household water distribution.
Hemavathi outlined proactive measures being implemented across the taluk to address emerging seasonal drought conditions. Officials are actively surveying villages to identify vulnerable borewells before groundwater levels dip further. In areas facing critical deficits, the administration will supply water using tankers or hire private borewells to ensure uninterrupted access.
A dedicated 24-hour public helpline has been activated to log local water distress complaints. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to monitor supplies closely and safeguard rural communities from acute water distress.
