Tumakuru
Forest officials have arrested three men after a leopard reportedly died in a trap and its carcass was allegedly burned near Gauragondanahalli Gate in Tumakuru taluk. The arrested persons were identified as G.D. Shivakumar, Narayanappa and Chandrashekar, all residents of Gauragondanahalli. According to officials, a trap had been placed in Narayanappa’s agricultural field to prevent wild animals from entering the farmland. The leopard reportedly became caught in the trap and died. Instead of informing forest officials, the villagers allegedly burned the carcass. The Forest Department learnt about the incident after a video showing the burning was circulated on social media. Officials examined the footage and identified the three men allegedly linked to the incident. A further investigation is underway.
