Slug: Expired Stocks Found

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licence of Parle Agro after finding expired stocks of Frooti, Appy and Apple Fizz at a godown in Chembur.
The FDA seized expired products worth ₹99,970 from the Velocity Express Warehouse near Chembur Naka during its ongoing food safety inspection drive. The action is part of a wider campaign targeting food businesses across the state.
As of August 13, the FDA had inspected 109 hotels, restaurants and dhabas, issuing 49 improvement notices and suspending four food-business licences. The department has also been checking bakeries, online food platforms and other food outlets for safety and hygiene violations.
The agency recently found several hygiene problems at food establishments. At Bollywood Cafe in Film City, Goregaon East, officials reported dirty cooking utensils, fly infestation, wastewater and food residue in the kitchen. During inspections of quick-commerce food delivery outlets, officials also found cockroaches, expired chicken, rotten vegetables, rodent droppings and food packets stored directly on dirty floors.
The inspections are being carried out under Maharashtra FDA chief Tukaram Mundhe as part of efforts to improve food safety standards. The department is continuing checks across restaurants, hotels, dhabas, bakeries and other food businesses. The action against Parle Agro comes as authorities step up monitoring to prevent expired and unsafe food products from reaching consumers.
