Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Eshwar B. Khandre has defended the proposed Mekedatu balancing reservoir, asserting that Tamil Nadu’s opposition to the project is completely unwarranted.
Speaking to reporters at Vikas Soudha, Khandre emphasized that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental human right. He urged political leaders in the neighboring state not to oppose the vital infrastructure project for political motives.

Khandre called for a practical approach, urging Tamil Nadu leaders to evaluate the reservoir through a constructive lens. Karnataka remains fully committed to completing the Mekedatu project to ensure widespread regional welfare.
