Min. Chouhan announces launch of VB-G-RAM-G Scheme

NEW DELHI

The central government has taken a massive step to transform rural lives by releasing a staggering ₹25,863 crore to states. This major fund launch kicks off the newly introduced Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G-RAM-G scheme.

During a virtual meeting with regional ministers, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced this first installment to guarantee that village workers get paid within 15 days. He happily noted that transitioning from the old MGNREGA scheme to this new system has been completely smooth, with zero technical glitches reported so far.

“Our main goal is to provide dignified employment, quick payments, and create strong public assets for our villages,” Chouhan stated.

The Minister promised that money will never be an issue for this initiative. However, he urged lagging states like Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand to finish their local paperwork quickly so that every single village can benefit. Local village bodies (Gram Sabhas) will choose development projects that fit their community’s unique needs, building a better future from the ground up.

Key Highlights of the Scheme

  • Record-Breaking Rollout: While the previous MGNREGA took three years to reach the entire nation, VB-G-RAM-G achieved a 100% nationwide launch in just a single day.
  • Bigger Paychecks: Village wages have been increased by an average of 10%. Crucially, no state will offer less than ₹300 per day now.
  • Top Performers: Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Rajasthan led the way by creating a massive number of jobs on day one.
