Intro: The Rs 7,145-crore highway, once ready, to slash travel time to just one and a half hours, allowing vehicles to cruise safely at speeds between 80 and 100 km per hour.
NEW DELHI
Travel between Kanpur and Kabrai is set to become much faster and easier. The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially approved a major new highway project.
This massive infrastructure plan will see the construction of a 117.7-kilometer, four-lane “greenfield” highway designed to link these two important regions seamlessly.
The project comes with a budget of over Rs 7,145 crore. Once completed, this modern road will be a game-changer for commuters and businesses alike. Currently, a trip between Kanpur and Kabrai takes about three and a half hours. The new high-speed corridor is expected to slash that travel time to just one and a half hours, allowing vehicles to cruise safely at speeds between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour.
Beyond just saving time, this highway is vital for the economy. By connecting industrial hubs in Uttar Pradesh with the resource-rich regions of Madhya Pradesh, it will make transporting minerals, farm produce, and industrial goods much more efficient. It also links directly with other key roads, such as the Bundelkhand Expressway.
The project is also a huge win for local workers. It is expected to create millions of days of new jobs during its construction phase. By boosting logistics and supporting regional growth, this new highway represents a significant step forward for the development of the entire Bundelkhand region. It is a clear commitment to making travel safer, cheaper, and faster for everyone living and working in the area.
