MAGADI
MLA H.C. Balakrishna appealed to people and political groups to keep differences aside and work together for the overall development of Magadi constituency. He said development should be the common goal of everyone while remembering the vision of Bengaluru founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.
Speaking at the 517th Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations, Balakrishna offered prayers at Kempegowda’s Veera Samadhi in Kempapura village and paid floral tributes to the statue in the town. He said Kempegowda’s planning and leadership created the foundation for Bengaluru’s growth as a global centre for trade and technology.
The MLA said Kempegowda’s ideas were focused on the welfare of all sections of society. He added that the aim is to develop Magadi, Kempegowda’s hometown, as a model constituency by following his principles of planned growth and public service.
Balakrishna said it was a matter of pride that D.K. Shivakumar, a leader from the district, is serving in a key position in the state government. He urged people to use this opportunity to bring more facilities and speed up development works in the region.
The MLA also requested opposition groups not to obstruct development projects. He expressed concern over unnecessary legal issues affecting public works and said political disagreements should not stop progress. He stated that while personal criticism could be faced, development activities for the people should receive support.
He informed that the Bengaluru Development Authority has taken responsibility for developing Kempegowda’s Veera Samadhi in Kempapura as an international tourist destination. Plans include additional land acquisition and major infrastructure improvements.
Balakrishna announced that development works at the fort area would begin soon with traditional rituals. He also highlighted educational encouragement programmes where high-scoring SSLC and PUC students were honoured with Kempegowda Awards and cash prizes.
The celebrations included cultural performances, a grand procession, and a torch relay from Kempapura to Bengaluru. Thousands of citizens participated in the event, which showcased the legacy of Kempegowda. Officials, public representatives, and community leaders attended the programme and supported the message of unity, progress, and respect for the historic contributions of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda
