Interdisciplinary research and cooperation between different fields will play a major role in shaping the future of healthcare, said Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. He was speaking at the international conference on “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Health Sciences for Translational Research” organized by Adichunchanagiri University and Adichunchanagiri Institute for Molecular Medicine at Nagamangala.
The Governor said modern health challenges such as cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, infections and mental health problems cannot be solved through a single area of study. He explained that experts from medical science, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, engineering, public health and other fields must work together to find effective solutions.
Addressing researchers and students, Gehlot highlighted the importance of technology in healthcare. He said artificial intelligence and big data are creating new opportunities in early disease detection, medicine development and understanding health conditions. He pointed to the quick development of vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic as an example of successful teamwork between scientists, doctors, researchers and policymakers.
The Governor said health research will be important in achieving the vision of Developed India 2047. He added that the National Education Policy 2020 has encouraged multidisciplinary learning and opened new opportunities for innovation and research.
He appreciated the work of Adichunchanagiri Institute for Molecular Medicine in areas including biomedical research, cancer studies, molecular diagnosis and health innovation. He said the institution has made important contributions in the last decade and continues to support scientific growth.
Gehlot also spoke about combining traditional practices like Ayurveda and Yoga with modern medical science to create more complete healthcare solutions. He welcomed the participation of researchers from India and international institutions, saying global cooperation is necessary for scientific progress.
The conference brought together scientists, educationists, researchers and students from different parts of the world. Governor Gehlot expressed hope that the event would encourage fresh ideas, strengthen international partnerships and help develop better healthcare systems for society.
The program was attended by Minister Dr. Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, MLA N. Cheluvarayaswamy, university officials, scientists and other dignitaries. The conference concluded with a focus on innovation, teamwork and improving healthcare through shared knowledge.
