India will embark on a landmark 12-match tour of New Zealand later this year, marking the most extensive international cricket tour by a visiting team in the country’s history. The all-format series, scheduled from October 22 to late November, is being hailed as the biggest cricket tour hosted by New Zealand in a generation.

The tour will feature five Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals, and two Test matches between India and New Zealand, providing fans with 42 days of high-quality international cricket. The series will begin with the opening T20 International at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 22 and conclude with the second Test match, also in Christchurch, starting on November 27.

New Zealand Cricket officials expect unprecedented interest in the series, given the immense popularity of the Indian team and the growing rivalry between the two cricketing nations. The tour is also expected to draw large crowds across eight host cities, making it one of the most significant sporting events on New Zealand’s calendar this year.

New Zealand Cricket Marketing and Commercial Officer Glenn Critchley described the series as more than just a sporting contest. He said the tour would celebrate the strong cultural and historical ties shared by New Zealand and India, while highlighting the friendship and competitive spirit fostered through cricket.

Critchley also noted the excitement surrounding the anticipated participation of Indian stars such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, whose presence is expected to generate tremendous fan interest and enthusiasm throughout the tour.

Following the India series, New Zealand will travel to Australia for a four-Test tour before returning home to host Sri Lanka in a multi-format series comprising three ODIs, three T20Is and two Test matches during January and February.

The India-New Zealand tour is expected to be one of the most closely watched bilateral series of the year, showcasing elite cricket across all three formats while strengthening the sporting bond between the two nations.
