BELAGAVI
Belagavi District Police arrested an interstate gang accused of stealing from houses while pretending to be vegetable sellers. Police said the gang members, from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, identified locked homes during the day and carried out thefts at night. Separate cases were registered at APMC and Shahapur police stations. Officers seized gold, silver, bikes, and mobile phones worth several lakhs of rupees. Police also recovered nearly 290 grams of gold from another accused linked to the gang. Investigators revealed the thieves sold stolen jewellery in Goa and spent money in casinos. The accused were later sent to judicial custody by authorities.
