MANDYA
The 9th round of foot and mouth disease vaccination program was launched in Doddabanasavadi village of Mandya taluk. It was inaugurated by MLA P Ravikumar Gowda Ganiga along with Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department officials and District Producers Cooperative Union. He said protecting livestock health is important for farmers and vaccination helps prevent major diseases in cattle. He advised farmers that if cows fall sick or die, losses can be reduced through proper insurance coverage.
Manmul President U C Shivakumar said cows are expensive and cost between eighty thousand and one lakh rupees. He urged farmers to insure their cattle to avoid financial losses. Veterinary Officer Dr Suresh explained details about the vaccination drive and its benefits for animal health. Milk Producers Cooperative Association president Manukumar and directors Mahesh and Shivaramu also participated in the event. Former president Anand, veterinary officer Dr Sharath and village leader Harish Doddabanasavadi were present along with other elders.
The program highlighted importance of preventive healthcare for livestock and encouraged farmers to take timely vaccination and insurance measures for sustainable dairy farming development in the region. Officials said vaccination campaigns will continue across Mandya district in phases to protect cattle from infectious diseases and improve milk production while supporting farmers with awareness programs and veterinary assistance in rural areas aiming for healthier livestock sector growth across the district.
